2019 Canada Summer Jobs

The AFCS is excited to be participating in the Canada Summer Jobs program once again as we seek to employ and mentor two Youth in the roles of Computer Network Technician and Program Assistant; one Youth per role. Computer Network Technician

The Computer Network Technician will be responsible for, but not limited, to the following tasks:

- Provide technical assistance to computer system users within the office -Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications
-Provide assistance concerning the use of computer hardware and software, including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, and operating systems.
- Perform regular maintenance and updates for office computers and IT equipment
-Troubleshoot local area networks (LAN) and internet systems
- Refer major hardware or software problems or defective products to vendors or technicians for service
-Maintain and update our organization’s website and social media accounts; including creating posts, responding to questions and/or comments made through website and social media accounts, etc.
- Recommend changes or updates in programming, documentation, and training to address system deficiencies and user needs.
-Digitize and catalog AFCS documents such as meeting minutes, agreements/contracts, reports, etc.

Salary/Wage: $15.00/hr
Hours: 35/hrs week
Duration: May 1, 2019 - Aug 21, 2019
Experience Required: None but will be considered an asset
*Preference will be given to First Nations and Metis Youth
*Must have class 5 drivers license and own a vehicle
*Criminal record check required

Program Assistant

The Program Assistant will be responsible for, but not limited, to the following tasks:

-Assisting the AFCS Community Engagement Manager in the performance of his/her duties
-Liaise with local and provincial organizations for the purpose of collaboration and/or assistance with cultural events and initiatives
-Attend meetings, take minutes, and keep notes.
-Schedule executive meetings and travel plans.
-Make arrangements for committee, board, and other meetings.
- Design AFCS annual report
- Assist employees in any ongoing projects or programs as necessary.
- Engage in out of office activities regarding:
i) Reconciliation Saskatoon; a collaboration of over 80 local organizations working towards answering the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action
ii) Participate in the planning of the National Indigenous People's Day/Rock Your Roots Walk for Reconciliation (June 21) and provide support on day of; an event sponsored in part by the AFCS
iii) Participation in the planning of the Wicihitowin Speaker Series and Wicihitowin Conference; events sponsored in part by the AFCS that arc geared towards Aboriginal engagement
iv) Assisting in the planning and execution of events regarding Project: Call #93; an initiative sponsored in part by the AFCS
v) Assist in the planning and execution of the AFCS Annual General Assembly

Salary/Wage: $15.00/hr
